Icon Moss / A design manifesto
A design manifesto.
Six working notes on the way we make rooms, gatherings, and the small ceremonies that hold a place together. We keep this short on purpose.
No. 01
More is more,
if it's loved.
A room should be full of what the people in it love — color, pattern, collections, a few things that don't match. We'd rather you find something new on your third visit than notice nothing on your first.
No. 02
Abundance is hospitality.
A full table, a crowded bar, one more lemon than anyone needs. People relax when there's plenty, so we set out more than enough.
No. 03
Local is a discipline,
not a flourish.
We work in Bucks County and the surrounding fields, mills, and towns. The stone, the light, the names of the makers — these are not garnishes. They are the work.
No. 04
A table is a kind
of architecture.
We design dinners with the same care we give to walls. A linen, a glass, a small bowl of olives — placed well, these build a room as surely as plaster.
No. 05
Time is a material.
Old beams, hand-thrown pots, an inherited rug — and the patience to let new work sit beside them without apology. We trust age the way other studios trust gloss.
No. 06
A project ends
with the people in it.
A space is finished when someone leans against the doorway and forgets to leave. We count the work done on that day, not the day the floor goes in.
